  3. @HeartStrikerz 1. Yes, but I think you might be confusing the twin paradox. You do age slighty *faster* in space above our planet, because you’re further away from the gravitational force. 2. I don’t know 3. Yes and no, according to general relativity on gravitational fields you would age slower, but I doubt the difference would be in thousands of years. If you want to know more just google “time dilation”, the Wiki article explains a lot.

Time maybe faster in space but out of curiosity is it just the perception of time that is different or will i “age” faster in space?, if the time truly moves faster than if i was looking at a city from space and i could see cars driving and people walking would all the movement appear to be faster than reality? like does this mean if i lived on a jupiter sized planet i could survive for thousands of years?

    yes. however, your perception of time wouldn’t change, everything would be normal. if you were in point A and I was in point B, and time was 10x slower in and around you at point B, you wouldn’t notice a change, but comparatively, I would age 10x faster, and that would be possible for you to observe.
    funny thought, isn’t it! :)

  12. @kfilipini This video is right. Time drags through the gravity, therefore time on the surface of Earth runs slower than time on the GPS satalite 18,000 km away from the Earth.

    Yeah you’re right about that travelling near or at speed of light drastictly slows down the time. But comparative to speed of light those satalites are orbiting at much much lower rate.

  13. This video confused me. From what I remember the time would pass faster on earth than in the atmosphere. I say that ’cause I remember tons of exercises saying that someone traveling in the atmosphere (there is also the fact that he was traveling almost at the speed of light), when he returns he would be younger compared to those who remained on Earth, or else, in space the time goes slower compared to Earth. Well, I think it is all due to the speed of light, that I’m creating this confusion…

  16. @Fulou i have several hand crank devices that can power the device.. i dont know how many charges these things can do before they fail, but, as far as i can tell it’ll still work as a map, given you can find a ‘landmark’ and then judge from there…

  17. @survival12345 It’ll work provided it has a battery that isn’t flat. Only problem is you may well find without the controller, the GPS will only be able to tell you where you’re not after a few days :)

  20. my question is… say the world ‘ends’… not literally, but theres total chaos, nuke wars, solar flares, massive crop failure, what ever, etc… will my garmin still work and get me close to my destination as long as thoes satelites are up there…? does someone have to be operating the ‘control room’ on earth..?

  23. One of the predicted effects of General relativity (theory of gravity) is indeed the effect of time slowing down in a gravitational field.

    Of course time is slowed with speed as well, even if it doest approach the speed of light.
